DESCRIPTION:
Dhokla recipe is from Gujarat. Main ingredients rice and besan, It is light food for age group and good for health. This versatile and instant dhokla recipe is purely vegetarian.
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 cup gram flour (besan)
- 1 cup beaten yogurt
- Salt to taste
- 0.5 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon green chilli-ginger paste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
- 0.5 cup scraped coconut
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Take gram flour in a bowl
- Add yogurt and one cup of warm water and mix by avoiding lumps
- Add salt and mix again
- Leave it for fermentation for three to four hours
- Once the mixture gets fermented, add turmeric powder and green chilli-ginger paste
- Heat the steamer
- Grease a thali/dish
- In a small bowl take lemon juice, cooking soda, a little oil and mix it
- Add this mixture to the batter and keep whisking
- Pour the batter into the greased thali and put it in a steamer
- Cover with the lid and let it steam for ten minutes
- When a little cool, cut into squares and keep in a serving bowl/plate
- Heat the remaining oil and temper mustard seeds
- Once the seeds crackle, pour over the dhoklas
- Serve, garnished with chopped coriander leaves and scraped coconut
