Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced a “roadmap” out of lockdown amid the third national shut down to hit the UK in less than one year. The vaccination rate has been going very well in the UK, which is among one of the only country to have successfully immunised millions of citizens. The beauty industry, including hairdressers and barbers, have been among the most heavily affected industries.
A number of hair salons and hairdressers have found themselves furloughed or out of work amid the lockdown.
Hairdressers have been closed during all three lockdowns which have hit the country, inevitably impacting their profitability for the year.
Workers within the industry have been able to profit from the various support packages, however, including furlough and the Self-Employed Income Support Scheme (SEISS).
So far, it’s understood that hair salons won’t be able to reopen until schools are back up and running, as this is the Government’s top priority.
