TRISHA Goddard has admitted that she’s only doing Dancing On Ice because she “needs the money”.

The TV talk show host, 61, hasn’t been on the box for a while and signed up to the show to boost her bank balance.

Back in her heyday Trisha was the queen of TV with her own afternoon show.

The show was one of the most popular daytime telly programmes in the Noughties.

It first aired on ITV from 2005 to 2009 but in 2012 moved across to Channel 5.

Unfortunately, it was cancelled after two years.

It was revealed back in September that she would be putting on her skates and joining DOI – seen here with Torvill and Dean

Trisha then took her show across the Pond – but sadly, it was canned after two series.

But now Trisha is back a return to TV – and with it comes a fat paycheck.

When asked by Woman’s Own why she signed up she said: “I need money!”

She added: “And I love to skill up. I learnt to ski at 34 and rollerblade at 41 and didn’t start running until I was 43.”

It was revealed on GMB back in September that Trisha would be on the show when the new series starts.

Speaking about how she managed to land the gig she told Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid: “It’s a very funny story as to why I signed up.

“I was invited to soiree in New York and there was one American guy there, he said, ‘I was a pro on Dancing On Ice’ and I wanted to skill up.

“I roller blade, so I’m arranging that with him after a few bevvies, and I take a selfie with him saying ‘I’d do DOI with this guy!’

“The next morning I get a call asking me to do it, the hangover hadn’t even cleared.”

Dancing On Ice returns in January with a whole host of stars taking to the ice to prove they’ve got what it takes.

Joining Trisha is the likes of Maura Higgins, Michael Barrymore and Joe Swash.
