'The polluter should pay!' Prince Charles hits out at farmers for 'destroying' environment

Prince Charles has hit out at “conventional” farming techniques due to the “pollution” that they cause. The Prince of Wales was speaking to author Margaret Attwood as she guest-edited BBC Radio 4’s Today show. The Prince told Radio 4: “Farming in this overt, excessive, conventional way is polluting us as well as nature’s own ecosystems.

“That’s why I’ve always felt that the polluter should pay.

“If you introduced a polluter pay system, it would instantly start to get us onto the right track, let’s put it that way.”
