Terrifying dash cam footage shows tourists driving on the wrong side of the road in ‘Keep Left’ campaign
SHOCKING dash cam footage has shown drivers narrowly avoiding head-on collisions with cars driving on the wrong side of the road.
Several motorists were shown to have lucky escapes with oncoming vehicles in a new campaign calling on road users to keep to the left.
Based in the Scottish Highlands, the Keep Left campaign uses in-car footage from incidents in the region to highlight the dangers of tourists not knowing British road laws.
One driver is forced off the road after a car swerves into their lane during wet conditions.
And another motorist narrowly avoids an accident by holding their nerve and waiting for the other vehicle to move into the correct lane.
The footage forms part of a local campaign by Sharon Anslow – who was injured in a crash with a tourist’s car last December – to better educate drivers about local road laws.
Ms Anslow had to be cut from her car after a vehicle on the wrong side of the road forced her into a nearby ditch.
Despite her injuries, the other driver only received a fixed penalty notice.

Ms Anslow, founder of the Keep Left campaign, told BBC Scotland: “It’s terrifying. I relive the moment all the time and try to figure out if I could have done anything differently, but I couldn’t have done.
“So many people contacted me after my accident saying: ‘It happened to us’. Even earlier that day of my accident it had happened to somebody else.
“I really felt like I had to make a good thing out of a bad thing.”
