State pension age changes: DWP addresses steps to support WASPI women amid COVID-19

Under the Pensions Act 1995, and then accelerated via the Pensions Act 2011, the state pension age for women increased to be in line with men.

State pension age parity of 65 for men and women was reached in November 2018.

Since then, the state pension age for men and women has been rising – increasing to 66 for men and women last month.

Further changes are ahead, with it set to reach 67 between 2026 and 2028 under the Pensions Act 2014.
