Solskjaer given incredible Schmeichel endorsement after making Man Utd history with EIGHTH consecutive away win
OLE GUNNAR SOLKSJAER has been given yet another endorsement for the Manchester United job –this time from old teammate Peter Schmeichel.
The Norwegian has turned United’s fortunes around since replacing Jose Mourinho in December, leading them back into top four contention as well as the last eight of the FA Cup.
Victory over Crystal Palace last night means United have now won eight consecutive away games in all competitions for the first time in their history.
And many feel Solskjaer deserves to get the job on a permanent basis at the end of the season.
One man who believes the former Red Devils striker is the man to get is old goalkeeper Schmeichel.
He reckons there is nobody better for the job, and must now be regarded as the top candidate ahead of Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino and ex-Real Madrid gaffer Zinedine Zidane.

Schmeichel told PA Sport: “He must be top candidate now.
“I think with Ole it is kind of a free ride because he’s only there on a temporary basis, but he’s proven – and the Liverpool game was key for me – that his way of thinking, he’s a top, top, top manager.
“I mean, we were trying to think about a game where three, actually four, players get injured in the first 25 minutes and you have to regroup.
“I can’t remember anyone ever being faced with that challenge and I thought he came out of that smelling of roses.”
