Ruth Langsford breaks social media silence with sweet baby post following the tragic death of her sister
RUTH Langsford has broken her social media silence with a sweet baby post following the tragic death of her sister.
The 59-year-old star has been offline since announcing Julia Johnson’s shock passing two weeks ago.
However, Ruth took the time to congratulate Gemma Atkinson and her partner Gorka Marquez after they announced the birth of their daughter at the weekend.
Commenting on Gemma’s Instagram post sharing the exciting news, Ruth wrote: “Congratulations yummy mummy and daddy!
“A beautiful (I’m sure) baby girl… What a precious gift.
“Sending you all much love.”
The TV favourite added a series of heart emojis to her sweet comment, which was ‘liked’ by dozens of fans who were delighted to have her back.
Gemma announced her daughter’s arrival with an image of the definition of ‘Family’ alongside the comment: “And just like that, we’re a three! Our beautiful baby daughter arrived on Thursday 4th July and myself and Gorks couldn’t be happier.”
Ruth was left “distraught” last month after she received the shock news that Julia had died.
Sharing a photo of the two together, she wrote: “My lovely sis Julia has sadly died after a very long illness. My heart is completely broken.
“She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever. As I am sure you will appreciate I need to take time to grieve with my family. Thank you for your understanding.”
A source told The Sun Online: “Ruth is utterly heartbroken and devastated to have found out her beloved sister Julia has died.
“She adored Julia. They were very close – speaking all the time on the phone and enjoying girls’ days out.
“Julia had been unwell for quite some time but this has shaken Ruth to the core.
“Eamonn and son Jack are comforting her at home but Ruth is in deep shock. It’s absolutely heartbreaking for the whole family.”
Julia had been suffering with depression for a number of years.
The landscape gardener who lived in Surrey with husband Paul and daughter Katie, 35, had spoken publicly about her battle with the illness and revealed how supportive Ruth had been, letting her stay at her home and helping with her confidence.
The source added: “They were very close and Julia would help with looking after their elderly mother Joan. Ruth would help her as much as she could.”
Devastated Ruth cancelled all TV appearances until further notice, with friends saying that she is too upset to return to work.
Meanwhile, her husband Eamonn Holmes was seen breaking down as he presented This Morning just days after Julia’s death alongside Rylan Clark-Neal.
The host was comforted by Rylan as he choked up while reading out Ruth’s tribute, taking to Twitter at the end of June to thank fans for their ongoing support at this difficult time.
