Power's Tommy Egan star addresses possible return in Ghost season 2: 'Needs to cut off'

Viewers were thrilled to see Joseph Sikora return for one last face-off against Tasha and Tariq at the end of Power’s first spin-off series, Power Book II: Ghost. His return may have been the highlight of the series so far, but the star warned fans they shouldn’t expect the same to happen when the Starz show returns for its second season.

Joseph Sikora seemed particularly evasive when he was asked about Tommy Egan potentially making a return to the second season of Power Book II: Ghost.

After tipping his comeback for the entire first season of the Starz series’ new spin-off, Tommy finally made himself known when he discovered the plans to frame him for the murder of Ghost (played by Omari Hardwick).

In the dramatic season finale, Tommy tried to get revenge on Tasha (Naturi Naughton), who took the fall for the crime at the end of the flagship series last year.

However, Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) threw him off the scene by faking his death, and Tasha was saved at the last minute when she was put into witness protection.

Tommy and Tariq parted ways at the end of the finale after an emotional altercation behind Ghost’s grave, with Tommy promising they’ll never cross paths again.

Although long-running Power star Joseph Sikora didn’t deny his return to Book II outright, he doubled down on Tommy’s vow when Entertainment Weekly called him out.

Sikora explained: “I didn’t want it to just be all vitriol and hate coming out of Tommy for Tariq, I wanted there to be some caring and some of that bond.

“Even though sometimes stories have to end, but you don’t always have to cut the cord.”

As the world of Power continues to grow this year, Joseph Sikora is heading to the West Coast at the start of this year to start filming his own series, Power Book IV: Force.

Currently, it’s unknown when the series can be expected to hit screens, as it will also be preceded by the next spin-off, Raising Kanan, this summer.

Thankfully, Tariq’s story will also continue as Book II has already been renewed for a second season.

While fans would be overjoyed to see Tommy make one more guest appearance in season two, Sikora felt his return to New York isn’t going to happen any time soon.

Teasing Book IV, he said: “Tommy is so New York, everything about him; he’s said it time and again in Power how he just wants to get back home, because that’s kind of like his hair if he was Samson.

“He needs to cut off all that figurative hair to leave home, and so is Tommy going to be able to survive outside of New York? How adaptable is he?”

Tommy’s time with Tariq seems to have come to an end but his story is by no means over as a younger version of Ghost’s partner is also speculated to appear alongside Mekai Curtis in prequel series Raising Kanan.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan will premiere this summer on Starz and Starzplay.
