Meghan Markle and Harry should NOT be allowed on balcony with Queen at Trooping the Colour

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could return to the UK later this year to mark the Queen’s 95th birthday during the annual Trooping the Colour parade. The monarch is hoping to hold the event on June 12 this year, as long as coronavirus rules allow.

Palace aides are expected to make a final decision on whether the event will take place this year in the Spring.

Trooping the Colour sees members of the Royal Family gather on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex having appeared alongside the Queen several times.

But as the couple have since stood down as senior royals, Express.co.uk asked its readers if they thought Meghan and Harry should be invited to stand on the balcony, should the event go ahead in June.

The poll, carried out from 8am-8pm, asked: “Should Meghan and Harry be allowed to join the Queen on the balcony for Trooping the Colour?”

Of the 3,299 voters, the vast majority thought the Sussexes should not be allowed to stand on the balcony as 94 percent (3,092 people) voted “no”.

Six percent (187 people) voted “yes”, while less than one percent (20 people) opted for “don’t know”.

Readers then took to the comments to explain why they thought Meghan and Harry should not step foot on the balcony.

One person said: “NO! They did not want to be part of royal life so that should mean, they are not included.

“It would be much better if they stay in America in obscurity.”

One user said Meghan and Harry shouldn’t be offered the privilege of standing on the balcony.

They said: “It is an honour to be in the Royal Family, working or not.

“Those who despise and disgrace the RF should not be allowed on the balcony in such an important event.”

Another person said: “Have they ever allowed other minor royals such as Zara and Mike Tindall on the balcony for it?

“If yes then they could be allowed, if not then it’s not a place for minor royals like H&M.”
