A MAN is reported to have died after getting trapped in a fridge on board a trawler in a Cornwall.

Paramedics, fire workers, and police as well as Cornwall Air Ambulance are all reported to have attended the scene at Newlyn Harbour near Penzance.

Witnesses said a man got locked inside a fridge on board a yacht, CornwallLive reported.

Devon and Cornwall Police have not confirmed the circumstances surrounding the incident but have confirmed that a man has died.

The man’s family have been informed.

Police said the fire service called them to the scene asking for assistance following reported concerns about the welfare of someone on board a vessel.

Three engines from the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service, at least three police cars, an ambulance, and an air ambulance are reported to have attended.

Footage from the scene showed numerous emergency services vehicles dotted along a jetty in the harbour with their lights flashing.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police were notified at around 4.15pm today to Newlyn harbour following reports of an industrial incident on-board a vessel.

“Emergency services are currently on the scene and one man has been pronounced deceased.


“The incident is not believed to be suspicious.”

They also said the Health and Safety Executive, the government agency responsible for workplace health and safety, had been made aware.
