Kym Marsh says she left Coronation Street at wrong time after quitting show 'Really weird'

Kym Marsh, who starred as Michelle Connor in Coronation Street for 13 years, explained that she had only stepped away from the programme for a “breather”. Her comments come after the soapstar announced she had quit her role in 2019.

The 44-year-old, who originally found fame in the band Hear’Say, found success playing Michelle Connor and became a full-time cast member in 2006.

At the time of her departure from Corrie, Kym explained that she wanted to “explore other roles”.

In a new interview, the actress turned presenter revealed that viewers may get the chance to TV personality make a show comeback.

The small-screen star has her eye on her previous role, as the presenter claimed to have left the Cobbles at an inconvenient time.

The impact of the coronavirus pandemic saw many of her upcoming work commitments cancelled.

“I really do miss everyone, I really miss the street,” Kym explained. “When I left I always said I’d come back one day and I will.”

“I just needed to get out and take a little breather and do some other things.”

Kym added: “I have no doubt probably one day that I’ll go back there and dip my toe back, but right now I’m far too busy at the moment.”

Discussing her decision to leave the soap, Kym previously explained she wanted to spend more time with her grandchild.

“Another big factor in my decision to take a break from Corrie is the impending arrival of my grandson,” the soapstar said.

She added to OK! magazine: “I’m looking forward to having more time to spend with him and Emilie [her daughter] after he’s born this summer.

“Other actresses from the show have gone on to do other incredible acting work, so who knows! It’s scary but I’m also really excited about what the future holds.”
