JORDAN HENDERSON was given a dressing down by Jurgen Klopp for appearing to ignore the Liverpool boss’ handshake after being substituted against Manchester United.

The Reds captain seemed to snub his manager as he applauded travelling fans in the 72nd minute at Old Trafford while being replaced by Xherdan Shaqiri.

Klopp had tried to embrace Henderson but was instead left hanging on the touchline.

The German called back his player and the pair were seen in a heated exchange.

Fans noticed the awkward moment and some claim Klopp said: “You didn’t shake my hand.”

Henderson, 28, duly shook his boss’ hand before taking his seat in the dugout.

Both player and manager would have been frustrated at Liverpool’s failure to capitalise on United’s injury crisis.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had to make all three subs in the first half as Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard – a replacement himself – were forced off crocked.

Liverpool, who lost Roberto Firmino to injury in the first half, were unable to take advantage though and the match ended 0-0.

Klopp’s men are now top of the Premier League by just one point.

James Milner admits the result was “disappointing” but believes the point could be vital in the Premier League title race against Manchester City.

He said: “A clean sheet is always pleasing, it’s not an easy place to come to, especially with the run they’ve been on.

“We made all the running, they didn’t make many chances and we were dangerous with set plays.

“The least we wanted was a clean sheet and to see what happened.

“We’re disappointed not to win but hopefully it’s a good point at the end of the season.”
