Kelvin Fletcher 'immensely grateful' for Death in Paradise work despite 'hard' rule

Former Strictly Come Dancing champion Kelvin Fletcher has spoken out about working during the coronavirus pandemic. Although the ex-Emmerdale star was grateful to have a job while many actors are out of work, he did admit that some new rules were hard to follow on set.

Kelvin will guest star in tonight’s episode of Death In Paradise.

He plays character called Gavin Jackson – a lottery winner, who is married to Cherry, played by Laura Aikman – in season 10 of the popular detective drama.

Comedian Jason Manford also appears in episode three, as Craig McDonald, a pal of the couple.

Last year, the actors jetted out to Guadeloupe in the Caribbean to film their scenes for the show.

“I have watched the show over the years and always joked saying what a wonderful job that would be!

“Always an easy watch and despite knowing the strict format of the shows here, it still manages to surprise and entertain!” he added.

The former soap star, who won the 2019 series of Strictly with his dance partner Oti Mabuse, also spoke about his co-stars chances in the ballroom dancing contest.

Out of all of his co-workers, he singled Jason out as a future contender.

Asked who in Death In Paradise would have the best chance at winning Strictly, he claimed it was Jason.

“I haven’t even seen him dance but he’s just so likeable he would certainly get my vote every week!”

Actor Ralf Little is currently the lead detective in the show, playing Neville Parker alongside Josephine Jobert, who reprised her role as DS Florence Cassell.

Death in Paradise continues tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
