I don’t want my two boys to be split up if something were to happen to me
DEAR DEIDRE: AS a mum of two boys, I worry what would happen to them if I died. I don’t want them split up.
I’m 28. My sons have different dads. My older boy is nine and sees his dad a few hours a week.
My new partner is 32. He is a good dad to our six-year-old boy but says my older boy is spoilt and, at times, is spiteful to him.
If I died, my mother would have both my boys like a shot. She’s a fit 51 and would do a great job.
I spoke to my partner and he said that “no way” would he let his son ever go to live with my mother.
DEIDRE SAYS: Why are you worrying about this?

Was this triggered by worry your partner wouldn’t make a good dad to your older son? He is not a good father-figure now, it seems. This needs tackling now, not in the unlikely event of your death.
Talk to your partner about agreeing boundaries for both boys.
