Federal prosecutors in Manhattan want an independent official to see if any materials seized from Rudy Giuliani by the FBI last week are protected by attorney-client privilege.

The request for a special master in the investigation into former President Trump’s personal lawyer was filed last week, but unsealed Tuesday, documents show.

The former mayor and US Attorney is being investigated for allegedly illegally lobbying for Trump in Ukraine, which led to the former president’s first impeachment in December.

Assistant United States Attorney Rebekah Donaleski cited “unusually sensitive privilege issues that the Warrants may implicate,” in the government’s request for a special master.

The electronic devices seized from the Republican’s Upper East Side home are “replete with material covered by the attorney client privilege and other constitutional privileges,” Giuliani’s lawyer Bob Costello said in a statement Wednesday.

The prosecution’s request also cited that a special master was appointed to review documents seized from Trump’s previous lawyer, Michael Cohen, when the feds raided his Manhattan office in 2018.

Giuliani has said he believes prosecutors are unfairly targeting him out of political retaliation.

“The only lawyers they raid are lawyers for Donald Trump. I can’t think of another lawyer that has been raided other than lawyers for Trump,” he told Fox News last week.
