TEETOTAL Trump winced as he held a glass of bubbly up to his lips during a lavish six-course dinner with Japan’s emperor and empress.

The president, who has always steered clear of drink, was served what appeared to be champagne and grimaced as he seemed to take a sip.

The couple toasted Emperor Naruhito to welcome a new era of Japanese history during their four-day state visit.

This is the second visit to Japan since he was elected, their first was two years ago when they met the new emperor’s dad who was in power.

At other events he will stick to soft drinks and has been known to drink grape juice instead of white wine.

Despite appearances, he didn’t sip the fizz

His choice came from the heartache of losing his older brother, Fred Jr. to alcoholism – calling it a “defining moment” in his life.

FAMILY TRAGEDY

Trump told CBN News: “He had everything going, but when he went to college for some reason he started drinking.

“He was and he became a very serious alcoholic and it was amazing that he lived so long.”

President Trump said Monday he is not “personally” bothered by recent short-range North Korean missile tests and doesn’t believe they violated U.N. Security Council resolutions, breaking with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who is hosting the president on a four-day state visit full of pageantry and pomp.

Trump also continued his attacks against former Vice President and 2020 Democratic hopeful Joe Biden, siding with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, who recently criticized Biden as having a low IQ.

The visit was designed to highlight the U.S.-Japan alliance and showcase the warm relations between the leaders.

Trump said he and Abe deliberated over economic issues, including trade and Iran, during hours of talks at the Akasaka Palace. But North Korea’s recent firing of short-range missiles emerged as an area of disagreement at a press conference Monday.

Asked if he was bothered by the missile tests, Trump said: “No, I’m not. I am personally not.”

Japan has long voiced concern about short-range missiles because of the threat they pose to the Island nation’s security.

Trump has tried to pressure China by slapping tariffs on hundreds of billions of dollars of Chinese goods.

“I don’t believe that China can continue to pay these really hundreds of billions of dollars in tariffs,” Trump said.

In fact, tariffs are paid primarily by U.S. businesses and consumers.

Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to meet during a world leaders’ summit next month in Osaka.
