Rufus, 41, emerged as the hot favourite during the Dancing on Ice launch last weekend and it seemed viewers were keen to see the comedian go all the way. However, the contestant is going to have to leave the ITV competition temporarily as he recently came into contact with someone who tested positive for coronavirus and is having to self-isolate. This means he will not be able to showcase the routine that the judges had made sure he would perform after awarding him with a pass-through to week three.
An ITV spokesperson explained: “This week Rufus Hound came into contact with someone outside of the show who tested positive for Covid 19.
“This means, following government guidelines, he will isolate for ten days. We are hoping to welcome him back to the ice soon.
“We continue to have a robust set of measures in place to operate safely within Covid-19 guidelines and to ensure the wellbeing of everyone connected with the production.”
