Chelsea fans reckon Trippier is their ‘secret agent’ after comical own goal and a tweet he sent five years ago

KIERAN TRIPPER has been dubbed Chelsea’s “secret agent” and a “better finisher than Morata” as fans taunt the Spurs defender over his astonishing own goal and a tweet he sent five years ago.

The England right-back’s “Come on Chelsea” message from a Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid in 2014 kept the social media frenzy over his clincher for the Blues last night well fuelled.

Only Trippier will know exactly what he was doing when he slotted the ball past Hugo Lloris despite FACING the outcoming Tottenham keeper.

But fans had plenty of their own theories as they taunted the 28-year-old, who admittedly was with Burnley when he sent his infamous old tweet backing the Blues.

One argued: “Trippier has better finishing 1×1 than Morata.”

And another joked: “Kieran Trippier’s defending is so terrifying it will start popping up in the middle of videos on YouTube Kids.”

Many supportersare still mesmerised and mystified by Trippier’s misunderstanding with Frenchman Lloris, as he opened his body up to angle the ball past the wrong-footed World Cup winner.

One tweeted: “How many times have you watched Kieran Trippier’s own goal today?”

And some wondered where it lies in the pantheon of oggies – with comments like “one of the best ever” and “it’s going to take a while before you see a more exquisite own goal”.

Others speculated that Trippier has long had more than a soft spot for the Blues.

One tweet claimed: “Kieran Trippier has always been a Chelsea fan.”

Fans also had fun posting commentary from Trippier’s glorious free-kick opener in England’s World Cup semi-final defeat against Croatia – plus music from the Titanic movie – onto a clip of his own goal.

And there were more Trippier memes today than team-mate Harry Kane has scored goals this season.
