Brutal moment El Chapo’s cartel whip man who vandalised beach in savage punishment

Prior to the lashing, a video emerged showing several young men destroying a sign to the Las Glorias beach in the north-western Mexican state of Sinaloa.

It triggered widespread criticism on social media, and even condemnation from the Governor of Sinaloa Quirino Ordaz Coppel.

A day later, gang members captured one of the alleged vandals and recorded his punishment.

In the chilling footage, the man screams in agony as his back is repeatedly whipped.

The Sinaloa Cartel, led by Chapo until his imprisonment in the US last month, regularly posts similarly violent videos to instil fear in rival gangs.

It is unclear if any arrests have been made over the vandalism or retaliation.

Earlier this week, another of the gang’s members sent a chilling warning to rival cartels by firing an AK-47.

The footage was posted online, with both the shooter and the cameraman laughing as he lowers the weapon.

Commentators believe it was a show of strength to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

The group is led by Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes, a former ally of El Chapo, and operates in at least 22 states across Mexico.

His cronies have previously targeted members of the public, soldiers and police officers in brutal displays of violence.

Daily Star Online earlier revealed its members may trigger a cartel war, with the group now making a play for Sinaloa and Baja California.

Aside from external threats, Chapo’s ex partner Ismael El Mayo Zambada may ignite a civil war for control of the Sinaloa Cartel.

The ailing drug trafficker, 71, is one of the last remaining members of the original Sinaloa Cartel, having evaded the authorities and rival gangs for years.
