Arsenal fans hail the ‘new Lionel Messi’ after watching kid Bukayo Saka, 17, in Colorado Rapids win
ARSENAL fans are convinced teenage sensation Bukayo Saka is the new Lionel Messi.
The winger, 17, opened the scoring as the Gunners romped to a 3-0 victory in their pre-season opener against Colorado Rapids in the US.
Unai Emery fielded a side littered with youngsters before some more experienced stars were introduced in the second half.
James Olayinka and Gabriel Martinelli completed the scoring for Arsenal in what was a comfortable win.
But it was Saka who caught the eye of Arsenal fans everywhere.
After just 12 minutes the 17-year-old raced onto a through ball in the left channel before sumptuously dinking the ball over the onrushing keeper.
And in true football fan fashion, Arsenal supporters on Twitter had a mini meltdown.
One excited fan tweeted: “What a fantastic game from my MOTM, Bukayo Saka!”

While another added: “He’s 100 per cent ready for the first team.”
As the excitement over the fairly run-of-the-mill goal grew, one supporter took it one step too far and deludedly said: “I don’t think I’m being dramatic by saying Bukayo Saka is the next Lionel Messi.”
Whether the youngster turns out to be on par with one of the greatest players of all time remains to be seen but his first task at the Emirates could be to cement a place in the team ahead of £80million target Wilfried Zaha.
