We let you in on eight top tips to save cash on your next cheeky Nando’s

Here’s what you need to know.

1. Get free food with Nando’s loyalty card

Get a Nando’s card – sadly this one is red and not the black card celebs are often rumoured to have – and you’ll earn one chilli for every £1 spent.

Once you hit three chillies you get a free quarter chicken worth £3.95 or a “fire-starter” worth £3.70 – a cheeky deal indeed.

Earn five chillies, and you’ll get a free half chicken or single wrap, pitta or burger worth up to £9.75.

Save up to 10 chillies and you’ll get a whole chicken worth £13.25 or a single combo meal with regular sides where prices vary depending on what you choose.

But as you also get one stamp simply for signing up to the scheme, that means you only need to spend £14 to get your first freebie.

2. Nab a free bottle of Peri-Peri sauce – if your name’s David

If your name’s David and you’re in Wales on March 1, then you’re in luck.

In celebration of the country’s patron saint, St David, Nando’s is giving away free bespoke bottles of Peri-Peri sauce to any customer with the moniker.

To get the sauce, you need to visit a participating Welsh Nando’s restaurant on March 1 with proof of ID and spend at least £7.

People with the following variations of David are also eligible, and don’t worry, it’s not all blokes: David, Dafydd, Dewi, Dai, Dafina, Davina.

Participating restaurants include Cardiff Mermaid Quay, Cardiff Old Brewery Quarter, Cardiff St David’s, Llanelli, Merthyr Tydfil, Nantgarw, Newport Friars Walk, Newport Retail Park, Swansea, and Talbot Green.

3. Make your own free Perinaise

Nando’s Perinaise sauce normally costs 60p a portion. But as it’s just mayonnaise spiced with Peri-Peri flavours – why not make your own?

Simply ask for a portion of free mayonnaise and then stir in your Peri-Peri sauce of choice from the condiments bar.

4. Get 20 per cent off if you’re in the forces

If you work in the police force, fire services, ambulance service, are an NHS worker or you’re in the army, navy or RAF you get a 20 per cent discount on your Nando’s grub.

If you’re in the forces you can get 20 per cent off at Nando’s

To get the money off, you just need to show a valid photocard ID card before payment – but note that Nando’s doesn’t accept the Blue Light Card, Defence Privilege Card or any other third party membership card.

5. Nando’s staff members can get an even bigger 40 per cent off – and free meals

OK, so this one only works if you actually work for Nandos’s – but it’ a pretty good incentive.

All staff members gets free meals when they’re on shift, and a discount of up to 40 per cent when they’re not depending on the day of the week.

6. Save 20p by not ordering a Coca-Cola

A sugar tax is applied to serving of Coca-Cola which makes it 20p pricier than other soft drinks served at Nando’s at £3.

But opt for a different glass of pop and it’ll only cost you £2.80. These cheaper soft drinks include Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Fanta, and Sprite Zero.

7. Buy the cheapest meal on the menu and save up to £7

One Twitter user called Jessica recommends going for the three chicken wings meal that comes with two sides and costs just £7.45 – the cheapest option for a main and two sides.

In comparison, the most expensive menu option with two sides is £14.45 – so you’re saving just under half the price at £7.

8. Save 40p on two fries by ordering a large

If you’re dining out with a pal and each planning to order two fries – get a large instead and you’ll save 40p.

That’s because a regular side of fries costs £2.60 – or £5.20 for two – while a large costs £4.80.

Jordon Cox, MoneySavingExpert.com’s “Coupon Kid”, tried out this trick and he got 82 chips in the large portion compared to 68 when he combined two regular portions.
